Refresh the Mind & Body

Historically incense has been used in religious practices such as those found in Buddhism. However, like Ka-doh (Japanese Art of Flower Arrangement)  and  Sa-doh (Japanese Tea Ceremony,  the Japanese also have also created the art form of incense , 'Koh-doh' or 'the Way of Incense' in the Muromachi Period (1333 - 1576).

In Koh-doh, the participants enjoy different fragrant woods (Koh),

matching names of the aroma trees used while singing poetry and

feeling the change of seasons. This entire experience of burning fragrant wood, to appreciate the atmosphere and the mood created, is said to be as “Listening to Incense”.
